Choosing Radiant Heating that Works with Your House

Underfloor heating is a method of heating an area through passive heat radiation. Heat naturally moves from warmer to cooler places, which allows radiant heating possible. It is far more efficient than forced hot air heating, as there is much less heat loss. The area heated also tends to be more comfortable, with less problems of dry air. There are 2 main varieties of underfloor radiant heating.

Variety 1 is water based underfloor radiant heating.

The second variety of underfloor heating is electricity based.

Variety 1 is water based underfloor radiant heating. Water underfloor heating comprises of hoses laid underneath the floor filled with water. These water filled hoses are connected to a hot water tank and a water pump. Hot water is pumped through the hoses, and they heat the floor. The cooled water is then pumped back to the tank to repeat the whole process.

The second variety is electricity based underfloor heating. Metal coils are connected to a mat, which is then laid under the flooring layer. Electrical currents are sent through the coils to produce heat. This tends ot be a much simpler and less expensive version.

Electrical and Water based underfloor heating have benefits. Electrical based items are typically less expensive, but they can interfere with some electrical devices. Many newer version addressed and fixed this issue, but have also increased the price of it. The water based radiant heating does not have the electrical interference issues, and can also have a solar hot water tank help with supplementing heated water. These items both can have some electricity supplied by solar electric panels.

If you want the best way to heat your house in both an efficient and effective manner, then go with underfloor radiant heating. Not only will you have a much nicer atmosphere, you will also have reduced heating bills. Research both technologies before to allow you to choose the best one for your house.
