Essential Items For Stress Free College Dorm Living
Living in in dorms at college is the first chance for many to experience life away from their parent’s house. Whilst most can get by without too much difficulty in the often very basic circumstances there are a few items that can make living there easier. Often, the day to day essentials are the ones that get forgotten about.
- Cleaning Supplies. Dorm rooms often become somewhat dirty in a short space of time, especially if there is a fair amount of partying happening. A mop, sponge and disinfectant are useful for keeping this in check.
- Power Strip / Extension Cable. On average, a dorm room has between 4 and 6 electrical sockets. With all the electrical appliances that students tend to accumulate, there are often more items requiring electricity than sockets available.
- First Aid Kit / Bandages. Though the college student mentality is one of not needing to be looked after, occasionally minor accidents can occur that need a little medical care. A basic first aid kit, that includes bandages, cold medication and paracetamol is an essential for any student.
- Personal Printer. All most all campuses provide computing areas for students to work at and to print papers. However, such areas are often very busy and are restricted to limited opening times. Being able to print without waiting around or restrictions with a personal printer makes life less stressful.
- Additional Bedding. The item that takes up more space than anything else in a dorm room is the bed. Since it is the biggest thing in the room, it is often made use of for things other than sleeping. This can quickly lead to dirty sheets that need to be washed. Keeping spare sets of linens makes sleeping a nicer, cleaner experience.
- Tools. Sometimes, when things break, the building maintenance guys are too slow to come or claim that it’s your responsibility, not theirs. Having basic tools, such as a screwdriver and hammer, makes such repairs less of a problem.
