Now, most just offer fuel, food and some modern convenience items, and that’s about it. If that’s not an option for you, consider the dealership where you purchased your vehicle. Almost all dealership’s repair staff should be qualified and know much about the brands they sell. Many even require their repair staff to be certified in maintenance and repair of their brands. This may be your only option if your vehicle is still under warranty. Dealership service typically does incur higher labor and parts rates than other repair shops. To maintain the warranty, most manufacturers require that you bring your car to their approved service facilities, otherwise the warranty might be considered void. Sometimes, as part of the deal when you buy a new car, many new dealerships include some level of maintenance service. Oil changes, fluid checks and sometimes even tire rotation may be included in the package.
If your car is beyond the warranty period, you may desire to find a qualified service and repair shop that will cost a bit less in labor charges. If you decide to seek out an alternative service repair location instead of a specific manufacturer’s dealer representative, then ensure the automotive mechanics are ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certified. This means that the mechanic working on your car has passed testing on various aspects of automotive repair and maintenance and has had extensive training on the subject matter. ASE certified professionals have mastered their craft in their area of specialty from specific engines to drive train and body work. Most ASE mechanics display their certification documents, or have an embroidered patch on their work clothes displaying their certification status.
The mission is to get your car back on the road in working order while saving money. Taking some time to consider your repair options can save you from a possible heart attack arising from a faulty repair job.
