Funeral Services - A Brief Guide
The demise of a loved one is a harrowing experience, and preparing for their funeral can be very painful. Yet you have to accept your loss and begin making necessary preparations for the funeral service so that the guests to mourn along with you. You can get the help you need in making the preparations from any funeral home, but you must bear a few things in mind before making the move.
A funeral should reveal how the dead person lived his life and it should be planned out in a suitable manner. Most funeral homes are willing to compromise upon their basic method of funeral services for incorporating certain cultural or religious preferences of the deceased and of his or her family.
The first stage is the visitation, which can take place over a few hours or could stretch for a few days. Here, the friends and family gather to revive memories of their loved one. This is followed by the formal funeral service, which may be held in the chapel of the mortuary, or any church that you choose, or even at any other location which was special to the deceased. A hearse or funeral coach would need to be booked if the funeral is to be held in an outdoor location.
After this service, the mourners usually move to the cemetery to participate in the graveside service. You can either opt for this to be managed by a family member or by a member of the clergy. Certain matters have to be taken care of at this stage involving the person leading the service, whether some items of the deceased will be displayed, and the type of flowers used.
The final part of the service is the burial of the body at a site, which is generally based on the kind of tradition that the family has. The burial can take place on a family plot or a graveyard, or if the dead person had wished for a cremation, the ashes can be spread at an appropriate location.
